Anjiya Naik

Anjiya Naik

Hyderabad, Telangana

Artist Statement

Anjiya Naik’s paintings emerge from a profound dialogue between nature, spirituality, and the timeless architectural heritage of Indian temples. His artistic vision is deeply rooted in the sacred atmosphere of India’s temple traditions, drawing inspiration from the majestic Dravidian, Vesara, and Nagara styles, their towering gopuras, intricate sculptures, and sacred spaces dedicated to Lord Shiva from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

The spiritual aura and magnificent rock-cut architecture of the Ellora Caves hold a special place in his artistic imagination. The dark stone pillars, sculptural forms, weathered surfaces, and ancient textures of Ellora have profoundly influenced his palette and treatment of the canvas. He is particularly captivated by the magical moment when the first rays of morning sunlight touch the black stone sculptures, transforming them into forms of golden radiance. This interplay of darkness and light finds expression in his paintings through earthy tones, luminous highlights, and richly layered textures, evoking a sense of divine presence.

His inspiration also extends to the extraordinary architectural and engineering achievements of ancient India, especially the Brihadisvara Temple. The monumental movement of massive stones and the traditional ingenuity involved in raising them to towering heights, even with the strength of elephants, represent for him more than architectural achievement they embody human perseverance, devotion, collective wisdom, and the enduring relationship between humanity and the divine.

Through symbolic forms, Anjiya Naik explores the sacred connection between animals, human beings, nature, and divine energy. He perceives the presence of Lord Shiva not merely within temples, but in the living elements of the universe in water, air, fire, mountains, trees, and every living creature. Nature itself becomes a temple, and every element becomes a silent expression of the divine.

At the heart of his artistic journey lies the eternal cosmic union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, representing divine love, harmony, consciousness, and the timeless balance of existence. Their presence becomes a spiritual metaphor through which he explores the relationship between the inner self and the vastness of creation.

Through colour, layered textures, sacred imagery, and symbolic forms, Anjiya Naik transforms the canvas into a space for contemplation. His paintings invite the viewer to move beyond the visible to experience silence within colour, divinity within nature, and meditation within form.

For him, art is not merely an image; it is a visual meditation a journey into inner peace, divine love, and the eternal connection between nature, animals, architecture, spirituality, and human existence.
